Managing Accounts and Transfers
Set up your bank accounts, cash wallets, and cards, and learn how to transfer money between them cleanly.
Accounts represent every place you hold money, while Transfers let you move money between your accounts without affecting your income or expense totals.
What this feature helps you do
Track all balances: Keep tabs on your physical cash, checking accounts, credit cards, savings pots, and digital wallets in one place.
Default Accounts: Smart Pocket automatically provides default Cash and Bank accounts during setup, which you can rename or expand.
Accurate Transfers: Moving money from your bank to your wallet doesn't mean you spent money. Transfers update both account balances cleanly.
How to manage Accounts and make Transfers
Adding or Editing Accounts:
Click Accounts in the left sidebar.
Click + Add Account.
Enter an account name (e.g., "Emirates NBD Current", "Pocket Cash", "Wio Credit Card").
Select the Account Type (Bank, Cash, Credit Card, Savings, Digital Wallet).
Set the currency and starting balance.
Tap Save Account.
Recording a Transfer:
Click Transfers in the sidebar or tap the quick transfer action.
Select the From Account (source) and the To Account (destination).
Enter the amount to transfer.
Tap Confirm Transfer.
Practical Examples
ATM Cash Withdrawal: You withdraw AED 500 from your bank account. You record a Transfer from Bank to Cash. Your bank balance decreases by 500, your cash balance increases by 500, and your total net worth remains the same.
Credit Card Settlement: You pay AED 1,800 from your checking account to clear your credit card bill. You record a Transfer from Bank Account to Credit Card.
Helpful Tips
Negative balances for Credit Cards: Credit card accounts can reflect negative balances to show how much you currently owe the bank.
Quick account check: Review your account cards on the Dashboard weekly to ensure your recorded numbers match your real-life wallet and bank app.
